FAQ's

The following represents questions that have either been asked frequently via email, or directly to Doug or a representative. If you have an original question, please refer to the ‘contact’ icon.

Does Doug ever record anyone else’s material?
The current agenda is to put out at least one more album of self-written material and then get a “feel” for the marketplace. Doug has considered submissions by other writers, but feels that it’s still early in the game. He may consider outside material after the second album.

Where are some of Doug’s favorite “hiding places”?
Doug likes the Mountains, the desert and the beach; In that order. Check the “Photo Gallery” and there are a few pictures of Doug in the San Gabriel mountains, by his home.

Will there be a “Standards” or a “Christmas” Album in the near future?
Both have been considered, but probably won’t be recorded until the second album is complete. Doug loves standards, particularly by other artists such as Elvis Presley, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, Barry Manilow, Shirley Bassey and Lou Rawls; However, he’s currently on the fence regarding a Christmas album. He loves listening to other artists “cover” Christmas standards, and his favorite Christmas music is the “Carpenter’s Christmas” on CD and a vinyl record of the “Osmond Family Christmas”.

Who is Doug’s favorite Singer?
He doesn’t have one. He is fascinated by so many of the century’s vocalists, he feels to single one out would not do justice to the rest. Some of the artists he listens to more frequently, however, are Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, Barry Manilow, Marty Robbins, Shirley Bassey, Lou Rawls, Peabo Bryson, Celine Dionne, John Gary, and Gary Puckett.

What is Doug’s favorite Group?
I’m afraid the answer to this question would be similar to the one asked about Doug’s “favorite singer”; However (here we go again!) Doug likes a lot of 50’s, 60’s and 70’s stuff. He has been known to listen to The Imperials, The Del Vikings, the Platters, The Association, The Lettermen, The Four Seasons, the Osmonds, The Jackson 5, The Union Gap, The Gatlin Brothers, The Bee Gees (The earlier stuff), Paper Lace, The Carpenters, The Delfonics, The Stylistics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, and the Temptations.

Does the cover of the debut CD “In The Meantime” have some personal significance to Doug?
The cover of the debut CD was designed by Doug, himself, with the help of Carmen Cross and Rocco Photography, to reflect the meaning of the title cut. The game of “solitaire” set in Sepia tone with an antique speaker in the background, represents “a man’s place in the conventional here and now”, juxtaposed with “stillness” or “acquiescence”.

Why is there flamenco guitar on the Spanish version of “In The Meantime”, but not on the English version?
The first thought was to have flamenco style guitar on both; however, Doug thought it gave more power to the Spanish arrangement.

Who played acoustic guitar on “Por Mientras”?
Doug did. The first consideration was Daniel M. Diaz, a great musician, and long time friend of Doug’s. Due to Daniel’s commitments and the record release time factor, it had to be done quickly, so Doug studied videos of flamenco guitar, and in his words, “got it out of the way.”
